Black Snohomish County, we strive to create a welcoming community that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all especially in our black owned business world. Our mission is to provide a space where members can connect, learn, and grow together.
Michael Adams - He/Him pronouns. Black identifying with other mixed heritage. Born in Moses Lake and lived there until the age of 13 before moving to Yakima where he graduated from Davis High School. Undergrad studies at Central Washington University. Unfinished Masters of counseling program from Bradley University that stopped during the pandemic as his focus shifted to social justice and racial equity work. Instead he completed the University of South Florida DEI in the Workplace Certificate Program along with other DEI and Trauma Informed Care training and began facilitating discussions on DEI in schools and community settings around Washington.
From policy development, cultural events, classes on micro-aggressions and more, he has been looking at ways to impact the Snohomish County community at large in a positive way, with an emphasis on the BIPOC community while highlighting the Black community.
In 2020 he created Change the Narrative, a local non profit in Snohomish County. Change the Narrative has hosted and supported many events for youth, communities of color, other organizations, and more for the community. Change the Narrative has focused on promoting Juneteenth, Black History Month as two pillars of Black community celebration.
In 2023 after being approached about his interest in buying Black Snohomish County, Michael felt strongly that it was the right move to further building relationships for Black businesses and Black people in Snohomish County.
Michael has served on various community organization boards and partnered with several organizations over his time in Snohomish County. Michael believes it’s those partnerships and networks that will be a catalyst to uplifting and supporting the Black community through the endeavors of Black Snohomish County.
Ultimately, Michael would like to see Black Snohomish County not only support Black Business in the county, but beyond as well.
She/Her pronouns. Black identifying with other mixed heritage. Born in Spokane, WA raised in Renton, WA with her foster family then returned back with her mother & siblings to Everett, WA and lived there since the age of 10. She graduated from Aces High in Everett, WA. Studied at Edmonds College completing a degree in Technology and minor in language. Along with certifications in Managerial, Office applications and Quality and manufacturing. Completed certification in translation (Spanish Language) for the state of Washington. Unfinished Bachelors of Material Science Engineering program from Edmonds College that stopped during the pandemic. Instead she turned her focus on Entrepreneurship and opened her own event planning business supporting and celebrating the Black community.
From admining Snohomish Counties very own Black Women's group on facebook, creating community through cultural events, supporting the growth of entrepreneurship in several counties, podcasting and more, she has been focusing on ways to impact the Snohomish County Black community in a major but impactful sustainable way,
In 2021, she created Pitch Black Entertainment, a local event planning business in Snohomish County. Pitch Black Ent has hosted and supported many events for our communities of color by support of Black owned businesses ie:Project Girl Mentoring Program, Jaryas Grill & Lounge, and Black Coffee NW, in or around SnoCo or with nonprofit organizations, and many more. Pitch Black Ent has planned and promoted CTN 2023 & 2024 Black History and Juneteenth kick offs to date. Pitch Black Ent created the fashion show of 2022 Nubian Jam.
In 2023 after being asked if interested in joining a partnership in buying Black Snohomish County, Kendra was ecstatic and over the moon. She knew this fit her vision and purpose to serve and continue building connections to elevate Black owned businesses and people in Snohomish County.
Kendra has built lasting relationships through community building and support throughout her 30 years in Snohomish County and with the hopes of continuing to build on those relationships and connections that will also see the vision and goals by supporting Black Snohomish County.
